To further promote the professional knowledge and academic proficiency of urban railway transit graduate students, enhance the quality of graduate education, and share high-quality educational resources, Professor Zhong Shuoqiao from the college invited Professor Luis Baeza, a renowned international expert in rail vehicle dynamics from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, to conduct an online lecture on Rail Vehicle Dynamics Theory for graduate students majoring in Transportation Engineering. The lecture took place on October 13 from 16:30 to 19:30 at the Modern Transportation Engineering Center. The course covered topics such as wheel-rail contact issues, classification of wheel profiles, and contact algorithms. More than 30 participants, including the nationally appointed experts Professor Sheng Xiaozhen, Professor Wang Lei, and experts, young scholars, and graduate students in related fields, attended the lecture. The academic forum was hosted by Professor Zhong Shuoqiao.
Before the start of the course, Professor Zhong Shuoqiao provided a detailed introduction to the lecture, extending a warm welcome to the attending experts, scholars, and graduate students. Vice Dean Professor Wang Lei expressed sincere hopes for the students, encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity presented by the course, strengthen their academic abilities, and enhance their research innovation. He also wished for the complete success of the course.
In the lecture, Professor Luis Baeza delivered an academic feast for the faculty and students present. He covered various aspects of rail vehicle dynamics, focusing on the theory and typical application scenarios of wheel-rail contact, explanations of terms such as conformity and non-conformity contact, normal and tangential contact, and algorithms related to wheel-rail contact. Towards the end of the course, Professor Sheng Xiaozhen and Professor Luis Baeza engaged in further academic discussions on relevant topics, significantly broadening the students' perspectives. Professor Zhong Shuoqiao actively participated throughout, hosting the introduction, providing detailed and patient explanations of the relevant knowledge content, facilitating the students' understanding and comprehension.
The course concluded successfully with Professor Sheng Xiaozhen delivering the final summary and overview. He briefly introduced the content of the next session and encouraged students to study diligently to consolidate the relevant knowledge. This course was a high-level, high-quality academic presentation, providing all students with an excellent learning opportunity. It helped students clarify their learning goals and future directions, guiding them towards their future research endeavors.
