The School of Urban Rail Transportation is positioned as a first-level discipline in the field of transportation engineering, covering four second-level discipline areas: road and railway engineering, traffic information engineering and control, transportation planning and management, and vehicle utilization engineering. Taking the big traffic represented by the Yangtze River Delta as the engineering background, the School follows the development trend of modernization, intelligence and digitalization of traffic engineering, and gives full play to the features of the discipline in the field of traffic operation security. The School has set up several provincial and ministerial discipline platforms, including the Synergetic Innovation Center of Rail Transit Operation Safety Testing and Evaluation Services (Shanghai University Knowledge Service Platform), the Shanghai Research Center of Rail Transit Vibration and Noise Control Technology and Engineering (the first batch of engineering research centers of Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission), etc.

Sheng Xiaozhen | His research field is vibration and acoustics, mainly focusing on rail transit vibration and noise reduction and turbocharging technology. He has successively presided over the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Fund - High-speed Railway Joint Fund Key Project, the major science and technology project under China State Railway Group, Hunan Major Science and Technology Project and Sichuan International Cooperation Project. In addition, he has presided over 2 open projects of State Key Laboratory and several university-enterprise cooperation projects. He has published more than 50 papers in top international journals such as “Journal of Sound and Vibration”, “The Proceedings of the Royal Society of London”, “The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America”, etc. These papers are widely cited and have an important influence at home and abroad. In 2004, he co-published the monograph “Railway Vibration and Noise”. He won the first prize of Jiangxi Natural Science Award, the second prize of Award for Excellent Achievements in Scientific Research of Higher Education in 2010 under the Ministry of Education, Hunan Xiaoxiang Friendship Award and Hengyue Hengyue Friendship Award. Wang Anbin | His research fields include rail dynamics, vibration and noise control technology, and his research directions include the development of rail products, system evaluation software and rail transit detection instruments such as rail system service status detection, vibration and noise reduction control research, urban rail transit, high-speed, heavy-haul railway, etc. He is a distinguished expert of the Thousand Talents Program, the chief technical expert of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the member of the Technical Committee of the Urban Rail Transit Operation Safety Management Technology and Equipment Industry Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Transport, the former senior scientist at the Railway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Railways in UK (1990-1995), the R&D technical manager of Pandrol International Company (1996-2010) and the doctoral supervisor of the Doctoral Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Southampton and the European Railway Research Center (2000-2010). Chai Xiaodong | His research fields include communication and information engineering and fault diagnosis. He is currently the executive director of the Shanghai Rail Transit Operation Safety Inspection and Evaluation Collaborative Innovation Center, the vice chairman of the Rail Transit Professional Committee of Shanghai Transportation Industry Association, the distinguished researcher of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, the member of the Informatization Professional Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, the vice chairman of the Rail Transit Professional Committee of Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, and vice president of the Council of Urban Mass Transit of Tongji University. He is currently the chief expert of the Shanghai Research Center of Rail Transit Vibration and Noise Control Technology and Engineering, and the member of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Vehicles and Equipment of the Ministry of Education. He has published more than 100 academic papers in important domestic and foreign academic journals and important international academic conferences. One of these papers was included in the Outstanding Journals of China(F5000), and more than 40 papers were included in SCI. In addition, he has made three specially invited lectures at domestic and international academic conferences in the past three years.
